Twenty years of the Dirty Mills SC were celebrated in true scooterist style on Saturday 13th November, 2004. Members old and new were gathered at the venue, “Cheers”, just outside Wakefield for a “Do” to remember. Faces not seen since the hey days of the 80’s were instantly recognisable and as the beers began to flow so did the tales of rallies and dos of old. An impressive turn out of 100 plus filled the bar and Trevor of the Leeds Crusaders soon filled the dance floor with his wide and varied sounds. A top DJ that is a must for any scooter do. By 9-30 “The Snapp” took to the stage for the first of two spots, the name suggests another Jam tribute band but they are much more than that, thumping out hits from Madness, The Who, Prodigy, The Beatles, The Stranglers and an odd Jam track as well. Just like the DJ the band had the dance floor full from start to finish, everyone was impressed and again this is a band that should be seen more on the circuit.

“Cheers” proved to be an excellent venue, plenty big enough to cater for the dancers amongst us and seating/standing areas for everyone else. The bar staff as always were kept busy, very busy, but you were not kept waiting at the bar. “Cheers” also provided us with decent and reasonably priced food not some of the inedible tat that we have become accustomed to over the years. Much of the night turned into the usual blur by the time the raffle was drawn but I seem to recall the gallon of ale been won by Mick Turner a publican in his own right who had travelled over from Bridlington and was drinking Coke due to his drive home. A bit ironic but thanks for sharing it with the rest of the lads! A big turn out from the Westgate Runners, Ska’d for Life, Halifax Elite, Leeds Crusaders, Kippax SC , the Dewsbury and the Rothwell lads and lasses as well as the solos and unattached scooterists all made it a night to remember. Roll on our coming of age next year!

Thanks to all who helped make it a huge success.
